Ekygard is an ideal solution to help protect the stomach lining against acid attack. Ekygard's complete formula has a global action on your horse's stomach: it protects the gastric mucosa via a coating effect, reduces acidity thanks to a buffer effect and balances the bacterial flora in the digestive system. It also has a soothing and appetite-stimulating effect.
Formula
The Ekygard formula contains the 3 essential ingredients recommended by the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. These are a pectin-lecithin complex, lithothamnion and Yea-Sacc (Saccharamoyces cerevisae), a brewer's yeast. The pectin-lecithin complex forms a gel that protects your horse's stomach lining against acid secretions.Lithothamnion has a buffer effect, meaning that it reduces the acidity in your horse's stomach.Yea-Sacc (Saccharamoyces cerevisae) is a probiotic that balances the bacterial flora (or microbiota) to aid digestion in the gut.In addition to these 3 essential ingredients, the formula also contains Aloe vera, which has a soothing effect, clay to promote protection of the stomach, and marsh-mallow (Althaea officinalis).
Our advice
EKYGARD is a feed supplement that can be used continuously all year round for your horse, thereby preventing too much stomach acidity. It can also be given occasionally. In this case, plan ahead for gastric acidity peaks related to specific events: transportation, competition, medication, etc. Give EKYGARD for 3 to 4 days before such events and for at least 1 week afterwards.

Hi,
I have a very old (29-33) 16h cob with severe arthritis. Heās been moved of Bute due to a toxic reaction onto Danilon. Iāve had him on a lecithin/apple pectin powder to protect his gut from ulceration etc. because of the prolonged need for daily pain meds. Is this a suitable alternative to that? The powder makes him cough so Iād rather use something pelleted
Yes this is a lecithin/pectin based supplement aimed at protecting the stomach from ulceration. It would be a suitable alternative to the powder you describe, assuming this is what the powder is based on.

My pony has been scouring for around a year, nothing has worked to prevent this. He is wormed and has had worm counts done. We thought it could be nerves but he does it all the time regardless of what heās doing. Heās 26 years old and retired. Had blood test two weeks ago and has liver problems.
This supplement primarily aims to protect the stomach against acid problems, such as stomach ulceration. If your horse has diarrhoea and it is chronic then I advise following your vets advice primarily. It is likely there is a underlying cause to the scour that needs treating. Ekygard is not primarily indicated for helping with diarrhoea.

How many grams does a scoop hold? I'm trying to work out the cost per day, thanks
A 2.4 kg tub is sufficient for up to 30 days' use in an adult horse, or two months' use in a foal.
