Description

The Nova Antler is a completely natural bone from Scottish highland deer. They have simply been cleaned, made safe and cut to a size that dogs can chew on. These long lasting chews are full of calcium and minerals and, while they encourage your dog to chew, they help to clean and strengthen their teeth. As they are unprocessed they will not splinter and make no mess as your dog enjoys chewing it.

Please note: Nova Antlers are sold according to weight not size so you may get one which comes in a different shape to the picture.

Purchased for a Labrador and a cocker. At last something that is both interest ing to them, lasts more than five minutes, doesn’t upset their stomach and cleans their teeth. Worth paying extra for.

15 A waste of my money

The antler was very sharp and pointed. It had a sticker on it that has left a sticky glue mark that wine was off. It is so smooth that it is uninteresting as a chew. My dog can't hold onto it.

Is it safe to leave a dog alone with antler chews? My intended purchase is because our new rescue who is 6 years old has just discovered what it's like to be a dog after years of abuse and she now thinks she's puppy and has started chewing, even though she is rarely left.

Hi Eileen,

The Antos Antlers should not splinter and will last even a determined chewer a long time so if you are looking for a chew to leave her with, this would be a good option.

There are also tough rubber balls that can either be filled with a tasty paste/yoghurt/treats etc to keep dogs interested and provide something satisfying to gnaw on also. Here is a link to some you may find helpful, and most of those can be used with something like the Kong Treat Stuff'n'Paste, or you could just fill with her favourite treats/kibble.

I hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Would this be suitable for my 11 month old puppy?

These chews are quite hard and not all dogs take to them. The leathery, hide based chews suit some dogs better, but you only know by trying them. Ideally your dog should spend a decen amount of time gnawing at the chew. The longer spent doing this, the better. You will only find what works best for your dog by trying a few and seeing how it works. You might need to give your dog less food in the previous meal, to make sure he devotes time on the chew. Many well-fed dogs will not bother with chews at all because they are simply not hungry. (They go on to get fat too...)
