Exactly the same ingredients as the expensive wormers. Same 'palatability' and does the job so why pay more?

Hi is this safe to use a week after equest pramox to treat feather mites ?
Animec is not licensed for treating feather mites. The active ingredient (ivermectin) given by mouth can help reduce mite numbers but it does not tend to reach high enough levels in the skin to eliminate the mites. It is therefore advised to discuss this further with your vet as alternative treatment may be needed.
In answer to your question, a 1 week gap between Equest Pramox and Animec should be fine.

Will this treat worming for summer sores?
My mare has just developed a summer sore on her mouth (lip) and I'm alittle lost to what would be the best wormer for treatment?
Summer sores occur when the larvae of flies try to burrow into your horse's skin. An ivermectin based wormer is a good choice (such as Animec). If the lesions worsen or do not respond to ivermectin then you should contact your vet.

What is the dosage when using this wormer to treat lice.
This product is not licensed to kill lice. If you are looking for an over the counter lice treatment for horses then I advise using Deosect.

The only listed contraindication regarding gender is it should not be used in mares producing milk for human consumption

Hi is this okay now to worm with this wormer for the small encysted red worm. Thank you
This contains ivermectin which will treat redworm but not encysted redworm. Redworm only encyst in winter so this is not currently an issue (in Summer). I recommend reading our blog 'A Quick Guide to Horse Worming' for information on a good worming plan.

Will this worker treat round worm?
Animec contains ivermectin which will treat roundworms. It will not cover tapeworms or encysted redworm, for the winter months it is advised to use products containing moxidectin to cover encysted redworm, such as Equest or Equest Pramox.

How often should this be administered ... how long will the effect of this wormer last?
This wormer will work immediately, treating worms on the day you use it. You may need to repeat worming every 3 months but only if necessary. You should test for worms each time rather than just worming anyway and you should vary the products you use. This reduces the chance of wormer resistance building in your horse. I recommend reading our blog A Quick Guide To Horse Worming for a good worming plan.
