VioVet would like to apologise in advance for any delays caused by the snow this December & January. We will, of course, continue to answer phone calls & emails and package your orders as best we can, but delays might occur which are out of our hands. PARCEL FORCE Service update – Thursday 14th January 2010 The message below was sent to us by ParcelForce, if you are due a delivery from them, please read it. With the weather now improving across the majority of the UK, our drivers in all depots are out delivering and collecting parcels as usual.
However, the severity and prolonged nature of the disruption caused by the snow and freezing conditions means that some of our depots in the worst affected areas have not been able to deliver all parcels as scheduled during this period.
There will continue to be delays to some parcels due for delivery in the areas covered by our depots that have seen the worst of the prolonged snowfall and freezing conditions. Many of the residential roads in towns and villages where we are delivering to have not been treated and some are still very icy, or in some cases remain inaccessible, and this expected to continue to affect scheduled deliveries this week.
We are working extremely hard to minimise any delays and to ensure that all parcels currently on hand are delivered in priority order as quickly as possible. In those areas that remain either unsafe or inaccessible, we will of course make these deliveries as soon as the conditions improve and allow us to do it safely.
The further snowfall yesterday meant that it was necessary to close our Deeside depot for the day. It will re-open today, but as no deliveries were possible yesterday there is likely to be some delays to parcels being delivered into that area today and tomorrow.
The depots worst affected by the recent conditions and where the prioritisation of parcel deliveries they currently have on hand is taking place are:
Aldershot – RG12, 21-29, 40-42 & 45 and GU Bristol – BA, BS and SN Deeside – CH1-8, 60, 64-66, 88 & 99 and LL Gatwick – BN and RH Gloucester – GL Leeds – HD and HX Liverpool – CH41-49 & 61-63, L1-40 & 67-75, WA1-12, 55 & 88 and WN Medway – TN23-30, CT and ME Milton Keynes – HP4-5 & 16-23, NN12-13, LU and MK Mitcham – SW2, 4, 8-9, 11-20 & 99, CR, KT and SM Newport – CF1-5, 10-11, 14-15, 23-24, 37-48, 61-64, 71-72, 81-83, 95, 99 and NP Oxford – HP9-15 & 27, RG14 & 17-20 Reading – RG1-10 & 30-31 Solent – SP1-4 & 9-11, PO and SO Swansea – CF31-36 and SA Tonbridge – TN1-22 & 30-40 Welwyn Garden City – HP1-3 & 6-8, SG1-19, AL and EN
You can check the status of parcels using the tracking facility on the homepage. If the parcel is showing as being out for delivery, this will be attempted today, whereas if it is showing as being held it is secure in our depot and will be delivered as quickly as we possibly can.
The situation across the country is improving sufficiently that we are able to re-instate our normal delivery guarantees from today.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that this will cause and thank you for your patience and understanding during this very challenging period. Also, please bear this in mind when enquiring about expected deliveries into these areas in the coming few days. With the weather now improving across the majority of the UK, our driver sin all depots are out delivering and collecting parcels as usual. Update Monday 21st December 2009 Morning: We are missing a couple of members of staff today as the conditions on the roads are awful. We should be able to process orders and phone calls as well as usual, but if there are minor delays, please do bear with us. Update Monday 21st December 2009 Evening: We have had to let all staff but those who can walk home leave early. The weather is very bad. We will continue to try to get orders ready and answer the phones for a long as we can. Please see the photo below which was taken at 5:10pm Monday 21st for an idea of what we are up against. Royal Mail have already collected and the two Parcel Force vans are on their way, but we have been called to say that at the moment one of them is stuck about 5 miles away. We are doing what we can. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Update Tuesday 22nd December 2009 Morning: We have got some staff in this morning and the first delivery has arrived to us. We will get on with packaging orders and dealing with phone/email queries as quickly and best as possible. We have also been having intermittent power problems (as has the whole of the local area). We would like to inform customers that the last Parcel Force collection didn't make it to us last night, so if your parcel was supposed to be on that lorry, your order may take slightly longer to get to you. Royal Mail's collections and the early Parcel Force collections were unaffected. Apologies for the inconvenience caused by this. Unless your issue is very urgent, please email us rather than phoning and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Update Tuesday 22nd December 2009 Evening: Everything seems to now be back on track. There is still a lot of snow on the roads, but deliveries and collections are running as normal now. Fingers crossed for no snow over night! Update Wednesday 6th January 2010 Morning: Although not all the snow had gone from before Xmas, it wasn't causing any problems... that was until the heavens opened last night. As a result of a very scientific experiment in the car part using nothing more than a ruler, I can reliably say that we have roughly just over 4.5 inches of snow and it is still falling! Over 80% of staff haven't made it in today and deliveries/collections are looking unlikely. Due to a serious lack of staff, please DO NOT PHONE us unless it is really urgent - please order online or email your queries. Update Wednesday 6th January 2010 Evening: We didn't get any collections from ParcelForce today, they have said that we should get collections on Thursday. If you got an email stating dispatch on Wednesday for delivery on Thursday, please note that this will NOT be the case as ParcelForce didn't make it to us to collect. Update Thursday 7th January 2010 Morning: Other than the partners in the business, just one member of staff has made it to work today (although two more are on their way - slowly). As with yesterday, please note that will have difficulties answering phone calls, so please do not ring unless your call is urgent. We would suggest ordering online as those orders will be processed automatically and should lead to a quicker dispatch. We have been informed by our suppliers that they will not be delivering to us today. Monday 21st Evening: Friday 18th Morning:
