Build your own hamster cage!
In their natural (wild) environment, hamsters live in elaborate multi-chambered burrows connected by tunnels.
The Habitrail Twist 'Starter Home' is fantastic fun and with 'add ons' for just a few pounds it is ideal for creative children!
A network of tunnels and chambers not only gives the hamster both exercise and interest in their environment, but also offers an opportunity for the hamster to express entirely natural behaviours, such as designating various connected chambers for different purposes.

Flystrike: It's that time of year again!
|
|
|
|
 |
Flies look for places to lay their eggs so that when their eggs hatch the maggots have flesh to eat!
A rabbit's or guinea pig's bottom attracts the egg laying fly so keeping this area clean is essential.
If you find maggots clear any you can with tweezers and take your pet straight to your vet!
The RWAF suggest lots of preventative measures and things you can do:
Cleanliness is very important as a dirty hutch, run, pen and animal will attract flies.
Check your pet's bottom twice per day as eggs can hatch within a day of being laid.
Food is very important!
A high fibre, low energy meal means solid poos which won't attract as many flies.

VioVet want your pets to be happy and so the more space they have the better.
Rabbits, rodents and guinea pigs should all have as much room as possible so please consider upgrading their home and improving their surroundings.
Often animals are bought from pet shops and they outgrow their homes so allow them more space.

Rodents and rabbits love to tunnel and it is important to provide them with items to appeal to their instincts.
The larger natural tunnels are designed for rabbits and guinea pigs.
The two smaller sizes of corn tunnels are great for rats, chipmunks, hamsters and gerbils to play and sleep in.
