The Cannon Hill Park People's Fun Dog Show was run by the RSPCA and it was developed as an alternative to the prestigious breeders show Crufts, reports birminghammail.net.
It was held to encourage everyday dog owners show off their pet care skills during a number of competitions.
Connie Jowett won in the Dog Most Like Its Owner category with her three-year-old Border Collie, Jago.
She told the news provider: "I don't know if it was a compliment for the dog or for me.
"I suppose both me and Jago are both quite grey and shaggy. But he's bubbly and I'm a bit too old to be bubbly so I suppose we've got quite different personalities."
The event was opened by Pippa Langhorne, who found fame on this year's Britain's Got Talent with her pooch Buddy.
