For dogs with cardiac insufficiency, a diet that contains specific nutrients can help to support your dog’s health and wellbeing. ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac is a dry kibble diet specially tailored to nutritionally support adult dogs with cardiac insufficiency.
ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac is formulated with specific nutrients – including taurine and L-Carnitine – that help to support heart function. ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac contains EPA and DHA, essential Omega-3 fatty acids that help to further support cardiac function.
ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac is formulated with a restricted sodium content to help reduce the workload of your dog’s heart. To cater to each dog’s individual appetite and taste preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac is also available as wet food with a loaf-like texture. If you feed your dog a mixture of wet and dry food, be sure to reference the on-pack feeding guides to ensure a healthy daily food intake for your dog.

Product necessary due to recent heart murmur.

I have been giving this to my dog since she was diagnosed with degenerative cardiomyopathy. She has just had her yearly review and her heart is no worse so this food together with her heart tablets must be doing their job which is great.

I brought this product as recommended as my 4yrs old Cav was discovered a grade 2 heart murmur.
Package arrived safe & secure. The kibble was bigger then what I imagined but not much different to the kibble he is on currently.
have started to wean him on to this food and so far he loves it and gets excited more at food time.
Great product.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Cardiac Adult Dog Food, including answers from our team.
Janice Saunders
Can my boy have this kibble along with his meds Vetmedin.
Yes this can be used in a dog who is on Vetmedin. It is usually advised to given Vetemedin on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before food. I recommend discussing with your vet about how to dose the Vetmedin as it is a prescription only medication.
This food is also a veterinary diet so you should run it's use past your vet just in case.

My vet has prescribed Royal Canine Cardiac dry food for my dog. Coould you please advise me how to feed it. Do I add water to it, or serve it dry - and does it need something else like a slice of Nature Diet. With many thanks.
Ideally you do not give any other food as that will upset the balance of nutrients the diet is trying to achieve. You can give it dry (most people do) or add water, whatever your dog prefers it. You must make sure water is available at all times. This sort of diet is rarely as enjoyable to eat as good quality wet diets, so you might find that your dog eats it without any enjoyment and not in great quantities. This is not a medical concern (in fact lots of dogs need to lose weight and so eating less is a good thing). However it can be difficult for caring owners to accept, regardless of being healthier.
