Vetmedin is a pet medication which can open up the main blood vessels to the heart to reduce the pressure. It can also make the heart work more efficiently and clinical studies indicate that this can increase life expectancy. This medication is commonly used to treat heart failure in dogs. Vetmedin 2.5mg has been discountinued by the manufacturer. We have been informed by the manufacturer that people wanting to order 2.5mg should now order the Vetmedin 5mg Tablets as they can be easily broken in half and use those instead.

Vetmedin is not suitable for dogs under the age of six months and should not be given to pregnant or nursing dogs. Care should also be taken with animals suffering from conditions such as diabetes and who are already taking other medications. Your vet will be able to determine if there is a risk of interactions with any other pet medication.
Owners should look out for signs of an allergic reaction which may include breathing difficulties, swelling of the mouth or face and skin rashes or hives. The dog may also suffer side effects such as poor appetite, diarrhoea or lethargy. All side effects should be reported to the vet immediately.
Vetmedin can only be obtained with a prescription from the vet. Buying prescription pet meds online still requires a written prescription, which must be sent with the order before the drugs can be supplied.
