Carprogesic Tablets for Dogs

< Back

Carprogesic is supplied as small, white tablets to be given by mouth. Carprogesic is used to treat osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease in dogs. Carprogesic contains carprofen, one of the major non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used in canine medicine. This is also used to treat the pain and inflammation associated with other musculo-skeletal disorders or injuries and also to help patients recover after surgery.

Side effects are occasionally seen, as with all other drugs in this group. The main ones are gastro-intestinal upset. If vomiting or diarrhoea is seen then treatment should be stopped and veterinary advice sought. Carprogesic is very safe and effective for the vast majority of dogs as long as it's not given to dehydrated or physically ill individuals. Care must be taken if it is used in dogs with pre-existing liver or kidney conditions, as this can lead to adverse reactions.
