Description

Prazitel Plus Tablets for Dogs are an effective multi-wormer containing three different ingredients to cover all the intestinal worms likely to be found. A single dose is effective and should be given at a dose rate of up to 1 tablet per 10kg bodyweight for Prazitel Plus and 1 tablet per 35kg bodyweight for Prazitel Plus XL.

Prazitel Tablets for Cats are for the treatment of cats with mixed infections of nematodes and cestodes, including Ascarids, Hookworms, Whipworms and Tapeworms. Each tablet is flavoured for palatability and contains 20mg Praziquantel and 230g Pyrantel embonate. Use 1 tablet per 4kg of bodyweight.

Tablet size reference:

Cat tablets are dosed at 1 tablet per 4kg. They are circular, approximately 1cm in diameter and are scored down the middle to be easily divided into halves.

Dog Plus tablets are dosed at 1 tablet per 10kg. They are ciruclar, approximately 1.3cm in diameter and are scored twice, so can be broken into quarters.

Dog Plus XL tablets are dosed at 1 tablet per 35kg. They are oval, apprimately 2.5cm in length, 1.4cm at the widest point, and can be broken into halves.

Tablets can be given directly or mixed into food.

If necessary, break the tablets into halves or quarters to make administration by mouth or disguised in food easier.

Using this wormer for first time on our two older dogs and have purchased sufficient to use again in due course including our new puppy. No problems getting dogs to take the tablet and no adverse reactions. Gave top star ratings as things are at the moment.

I would say this is best worming product I've used, of course the results might not be the same next time. It's wise to change every now and then.

How much is a pack of 24 tablets

Jill

Hi

I would like to purchase a pack of 24 tablets. How much would a pack cost?

Kind regards

Jill

  • VioVet Staff

The website will calculate the cost of 24 tablets if you add them to your basket. This will then appear during our checkout process, I recommend doing this.

Frequency

Christine

How often should I give this to my dog? We go out into the woods/countryside a lot.

  • VioVet Staff

It is usually advised to worm every 3 months as standard for the average dog. If your dog scavenges a lot or is around immunocompromised individuals (e.g. the young or elderly) then monthly worming may be safest.

WHEN DOES IT TAKE EFFECT-WHEN WILL WORMS BE EXPELLED

AS ABOVE-AFTER USE WHEN WILL WORMS BE EXPELLED?

  • VioVet Staff

Wormers like this will start working within hours and worms will be expelled over the few days after treating.

Half tablet

Bingo

If my dog is less than 5kg, should I be giving her just half the tablet? Frequency is every 3 mths or every mth?

  • VioVet Staff

If your dog weighs 2.6kg to 5kg then 1/2 tablet of Prazitel Plus is a safe an appropriate dose. If your dog weighs 0.5kg to 2.5kg then 1/4 tablet is the correct dose. Every 3 months worming is advised but it can be more frequent if your dog is very prone to scavenging and picking up worms outside, for example commonly eats other animals faeces or raw ffood.

How often

Elizabeth White

How often do I administer this wormer.

  • VioVet Staff

Worming every 3 months is recommended for the average cat. If your cat is a prolific hunter then monthly dosing during the hunting season is advised. Equally if your cat is indoors only and the risk of scavenging is almost negligible then every 6 months can suffice.

What is the difference between plus and very big plus?

Yifat wallach

My dog is 33 Kg. which tablet will fit him?

  • VioVet Staff

The difference depends on your dog's weight and the doseage required. A single dose is effective and should be given at a dose rate of up
to 1 tablet per 10kg bodyweight for Prazitel Plus and 1 tablet per 35kg
bodyweight for Prazitel Plus XL.

I would advise 1 tablet of Prazitel Plus XL for your 33kg dog.

Mother cat

Susie

My mother cat has worms but only gave birth two weeks ago. Is it safe to give her a wormer?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, this is perfectly safe. The kittens are likely to have worms also, as some types of roundworm can get into the mammary glands, and pass to the kittens in their mother's milk. While they are not weaned and she is cleaning them up when they go to the toilet, the kittens will be a source of infection for her also.

I'd recommend worming her with Prazitel every 4 weeks until they are fully weaned. The kittens can't have Prazitel until they at least 6 weeks old and weighing at least 1kg. While they're small, I recommend using something like Panacur Paste or Panacur Suspension with them at 2, 5, 8 and 12 weeeks of age (or just before they leave your home).

I hope this helps!

Prazitel

Is this for both worms

Are these for both type of worms

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, Prazitel treats all common types of roundworms (nematodes) and tapeworms (cestodes) found in dogs and cats, including Ascarids, Hookworms, and Whipworms. It unfortunately cannot treat heartworm though, you would need to ask your vet to prescribe a product for this if your dog is in a high risk area.

Prazitel Worming Tablets for Dogs & Cats

i did not receive a leaflet for use with the packet. i do not know how frequently to administer this tablet. is it once every four months ... or?

  • VioVet Staff

The usual frequency of administration for a wormer such as this would be once every 3 months. However it depends a bit on each dog. If your dog is a particular scavenger then you could worm up to once a month but usually every 3 months is enough.
