Feeding Guide
These amounts are a starting point only because animals’ needs vary.1 Adjust the feeding amount to maintain optimal body weight.
PUPPIES
Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy formula should be fed from weaning until maturity at 1 year old. The daily amount required by individual puppies may vary substantially. Therefore the amount should be adjusted to maintain optimal body weight, and fed as 2–4 meals per day (the number may decrease with age).

PREGNANCY
The amount of Science Plan™ VetEssentialsTM Puppy formula to feed to pregnant bitches depends upon the stage of pregnancy. Often pregnancy is not recognised until the 4th or 5th week.

LACTATION

Additional information
- During the last half of lactation, puppies can be weaned on to the same Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy food that is being fed to the bitch, which simplifies the weaning process.
- The Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy formula is enriched with a high level of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an essential structural component of the brain which occurs naturally in mothers’ milk. Feeding Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy to pregnant and lactating bitches provides puppies with high levels of DHA before weaning. When also fed to puppies after weaning, additional DHA is supplied throughout the critical formation and development of brain and eyes.
- Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy may be fed in combination with any canned formula of Science PlanTM Puppy.
Large Breed
- Large Breed Puppies should be fed Science PlanTMVetEssentials Puppy Large Breed from weaning till 1 year of age, and then should be switched to Science PlanTM VetEssentials Canine Adult.
- The Science PlanTM VetEssentials PuppyLarge Breed formula is enriched with a high level of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an essential structural component of the brain which occurs naturally in mothers’ milk. When fed to puppies after weaning, additional DHA is supplied throughout the critical formation and development of brain and eyes.
- Science Plan™ VetEssentials Puppy Large Breed may be fed in combination with any canned formula of Science PlanTM Puppy.
- Additional food or supplements, particularly calcium supplements, should not be fed as this will upset the essential nutritional balance.
Recommended for
Long-term feeding to adult dogs, unless they have higher than normal energy requirements.
Large Breed

- Pregnant or lactating bitches, because of its lower energy density and lower calcium content (compared to other Science Plan™ Puppy formulas). Pregnant or lactating bitches should be fed a Science Plan™ Puppy VetEssentials™ formula.

Oscar, our black lab (and now head of household), was fed exclusively on the large breed puppy food from the Hills Vet Essentials range. He's grown up to be a handsome and healthy dog with exceptional coat and teeth. Follow the recommended allowances and exercise appropriately and you will provide a great start to their life. From Oscars perspective, it was nommy and deserving of waggiest tail.
