Renal Feline with Tuna (Pouches) is a complete food for cats with chronic renal insufficiency or hepatic encephalopathy. It has been carefully developed to both support and maintain health renal function and to reduce oxalate stone formation. Phosphorus retention can lead to secondary hyperparathyroidism and can also lead to renal failure. This food has a very low phosphorus content to prevent phosphorus retention. Omega 3 long chain fatty acids will help to support a lower glomerular pressure which will help to prevent GFR (glomerular filtration rate). An increase in uraemia often causes the development of gastric or intestinal mucosal ulcers. This will be prevented with added FOS and zeolite. Additionally, the food contains a special synergistic antioxidant complex which will help to boost your cat's natural defences, neutralise free radicals and maintain healthy cells and DNA. Tuna is naturally rich in fish oil and nutrients which will have numerous health benefits for your cat. These include helping to create healthier skin, coat and joints.

Restricted Phosphorus intake

During CRF, phosphorus is no longer eliminated effectively by the kidneys. A restriction in phosphorus intake is essential to limit the development of renal failure.

High fish oil content renal diet

Feeding a diet with a high fish oil content (source of EPA/DHA) significantly improves the glomerular filtration rate in the long run, while minimising glomerulosclerosis.

Digestive security renal diet

Increased uraemia may induce the formation of gastric and intestinal mucosal ulcers. The combination of zeolite and FOS helps protect the mucosa.

Antioxidant complex

The synergistic antioxidant complex (vitamin E, vitamin C, taurine, lutein) helps maintain healthy DNA, promotes health of the immune system and neutralises free radicals, the negative effects of which increase with age.
