Renal Feline with Chicken (Pouches) is a complete food for cats with chronic renal insufficiency or hepatic encephalopathy. It has been carefully developed to both support and maintain healthy renal function and to reduce oxalate stone formation. Phosphorus retention can lead to secondary hyperparathyroidism and can also lead to renal failure. This food has a very low phosphorus content to prevent phosphorus retention. Omega 3 long chain fatty acids will help to support a lower glomerular pressure which will help to prevent GFR (glomerular filtration rate). An increase in uraemia often causes the development of gastric or intestinal mucosal ulcers, but this will be prevented by the added FOS and zeolite. Additionally, the food contains a special synergistic antioxidant complex which will help to boost your cat's natural defences, neutralise free radicals and maintain healthy cells and DNA. Chicken will provide your cat with an excellent source of high quality and digestible protein.

Good but there are better alternatives for cheaper

Whilst this Royal Canin food is well supported by many vets I do tend to feel that all of the vets I have come across tend to oversell it - and why wouldn't they if they have a shop window full of the stuff! If you are after a decent dry cat food that does not cost as much as RC than there are plenty to choose from such as Applaws or Encore. Royal Canin is no doubt a decent food but not 'the only thing worth feeding your pets' as most vets would have you believe!
