Biospotix pipettes applied to your pet’s neck and back as directed will provide optimal repellent protection from fleas, ticks and mosquitos if renewed every 4 weeks. For treatment of dogs, use one 1ml pipette for weights up to 10kg, two for 10-20kg, three for 20-30kg, four for 30-40kg and five for 40kg+. For treatment of cats use one 1ml pipette and for kittens use half of one 1ml pipette. Each pack contains 5 pipettes. Biospotix can be used on puppies and kittens over 3 months old.
Biospotix is for external animal use only. Avoid contact if you have a perfume allergy and keep out of the reach of children and away from the eyes. Biospotix is made by Laboratoire Biogance, France.

Is Biospotix absorbed into the body? If not, is it affected by swimming? 14th Jun 2013
I was wanting to try and obtain some more information about the above product.
The information on the web site does not contain the answers to the questions I have.
It states that Biospotix works on the respiratory system of the biting insects, but as is the case with other flea products eg Frontline, is it absorbed into the dogs blood stream or does it work from just lying on the dogs skin and coat.
If that is the case, does that mean if the dogs gets wet, has a bath or goes swimming the product is no longer effective and requires reapplication.

Biospotix works by providing a coating on the surface of the skin and hair. This is then taken up by fleas as they move through the coat. As it happens, Frontline is the same. There is minimal absorption of Frontline and any which is absorbed is ineffective. Some different flea treatments, like Advocate and Stronghold, are indeed absorbed through the skin and work systemically.
Both Frontline and Biospotix are affected slightly by washing and swimming etc. However they are lipid soluble rather than water soluble, so only tiny amounts are removed this way. The effectiveness of the products is only slightly diminished by getting wet, though if this happens repeatedly it will have an effect. Biospotix is not a licensed medication, so it has not been through the same tests for safety, quality and efficacy as products like Frontline. Our belief is that it is in fact very safe and reasonably effective, but that is just a judgement.
