The Master Plus Pro Training Collar is a remotely activated device which releases a sudden, brief blast of gas from the collar. This is completely harmless and pain free, but it suddenly breaks the train of thought of a dog which is misbehaving. Combined with a short, sharp command from the owner/trainer, it helps to establish a response. It is important also to remember that a happy overall atmosphere should be maintained while dog training. Reward is far more effective than punishment, so the collar enables you to get your dogs attention. The standard collar releases an odourless gas which feels cold. The sound and sensation are usually enough to get your dogs attention. Refill gas canisters are available (Pavlov Spray refills) in three types - Odourless, Citronella and Mustard. Dogs do find the smell of Citronella objectionable, even though it is pleasant to us. Similarly they do not like the mustard, so these can be used for dogs which are more difficult to distract. Use responsibly and kindly at all times to gain attention. Then guide your dog with your voice and reward good behaviour every time. Training works very much better if you and your dog are enjoying it!
