Rubenal Renal Supplement

Rubenal is a herbal supplement which has been shown in scientific tests to help animals with deteriorating kidney function. Rubenal is based on the Rhubarb plant and contains a range of organic compounds which appear to contribute to the beneficial effects. Scar tissue formation in the renal nephron is reduced, improving blood flow and reducing protein loss in the urine. As kidneys deteriorate, the micro-pressure within the renal nephron increases and leads to protein loss in the urine. This process causes further inflammation within the kidneys which in turn leads to scar tissue being deposited in the kidneys. This scarring leads to further damage, further inflammation and further deterioration of function. Rubenol is able to slow the progression of kidney disease. Animal studies have shown that Rhuem Officinale supplementation can reduce glomerulosclerosis (a type of kidney scar tissue production), reduce protein loss in the urine and reduce blood levels of creatinine.

Rubenal is made from the rhubarb plant (Rheum Officinale) . This herbal supplement contains a number of different helpful compounds, such as anthranoids like Rhein and Emodin, tannins, stilbene derivatives, volatile oil, fatty acids and others.

Taste tests have shown that both dogs and cats enjoy the taste of Rubenal. It can be given as a pill or crumbled on top of food. It is a nutraceutical rather than a drug, and has not shown any side effects. It can be used safely on its own, or alongside other medications and diets designed to help support the kidneys.

Rubenal guideline dose rate - Dogs 15mg/kg bodyweight twice daily, Cats 25mg/kg bodyweight.

Dogs - One 75mg tablet per 5kg bodyweight or one 300mg tablet per 20kg bodyweight

Cats - One 75mg tablet per 3kg bodyweight
