45 Excellent tonic for our chickens
Verified Purchase

By on 8 February 2022

We have been using this for a number of years now. It really helps to get our girls through the winter and assists when they are moulting. It is fair to say that it is not cheap (but my thanks to Viovet for being the cheapest that I could find)

Anti-freeze!

Daphne Ryland-Jones

surely there must be a more natural way to get glucosamine and MSM without the use of propylene glycol ie anti-freeze!
Can I supplement these in powder and how many grams of each per bird. Thank you.

  • VioVet Staff

Historically it is ethylene glycol which is used in anti-freeze and is toxic to humans and other animals. Propylene glycol has more recently been used in antifreeze as an environmentally friendly or non-toxic antifreeze. It is used as an additive in many human foods such as ice-cream and baked goods so is safe to use in this supplement. This product comes in liquid form and should be fed at 7.5ml in 3 litres of water. Once diluted you could try feeding it on soaked bread but I am not sure it would be possible to feed it in a powder.
