AKTIVAIT® for Dogs

The brains of older dogs undergo degenerative changes, amyloid plaque deposition, and can be damaged by free radicals. This pathology leads to behavioural changes such as disorientation, disturbed sleep patterns, altered social interaction
and loss of house training.

AKTIVAIT® provides a unique blend of antioxidants and brain supportive nutrients to assist in the management of age-related cognitive dysfunction.

AKTIVAIT® for Cats

The brains of older cats undergo degenerative changes, amyloid plaque deposition and can be damaged by free radicals. This pathology leads to behavioural changes such as disorientation, disturbed sleep patterns, altered social interaction
and changes to toileting routines.

AKTIVAIT® FOR CATS provides a unique blend of antioxidantsand brain supportive nutrients to assist in the management of age-related cognitive dysfunction.

What causes age-related behavioural changes?

Humans and animals produce harmful chemicals called free radicals on a daily basis. Free radicals are detremental to the body as they cause damage to cells they are in contact with. Young healthy pets can naturally produce antioxidants which neutralise these free radicals thus negating damage to cells, in particular the brain cells.

However, an increase in age leads to an increase in the production of these free radicals, yet this is coupled with a decrease in antioxidant production, leading to the free radicals remaining in the body and doing damage to the brain and other cells in the body. The free radicals are one of the main contributors to the deterioration of life quality when the pet is older.

When should I give my pet AKTIVAIT?

Cognitive dysfunction is a progressive condition that will tend to get worse with time. For optimal results supplementation with AKTIVAIT should begin as soon as any signs are seen. It can also be given to your pet from middle age onwards to help maintain normal brain function.

How long will it take to see results?

Noticeable improvements from AKTIVAIT® have been reported as early as 3-4 weeks after the start of supplementation but this will vary by age, breed and the severity of the changes present.

55 Aktivait for 14yr old dog
Verified Purchase

By on 13 April 2024

Early dementia in dog which were causing her to be a little confused and distressed, these were recommended by our vet and have made such a difference, she’s much less freaked out and relaxed and back to “just” being an older dog rather than a very confused dog. We just pop a tablet in with her evening meal (dry biscuits). Viovet was the cheapest place to buy these.

I was recommended aktivait by my vet, for my 14yr old jack Russell, who has possibly got early dementia, she was having accidents indoors. Within a month of taking these tablets she had been accident free and is a lot happier.

Vivotonin

Becky Reed

Is it safe for my 16 year old collie to have aktivait and vivotonin. He has been on vivotonin for 3 years. He struggles at night with pacing and settling and I've been recommended that this product may help
Thank you

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, vivitonin and cognitive support supplements like Aktivait are sometimes prescribed together. They are safe for use alongside each other.

Selgian and Vitofyllin

Yannix

Is this OK to use alongside Selgian and Vitofyllin?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, there should be no reason not to use Aktivait alongside Selgian and Vitofyllin. If your pet is being treated with prescription medication by your vet then you should run the use of the supplement past them though to be safe.

Taken with other supplements

Sue

Can activait be taken alongside yumove plus and yumove digest?

  • VioVet Staff

These products contain different ingredients except that YuMove Plus and Aktivait both contain Vitamin E. This is a safe ingredient though and doubling up on it in this scenario is still well below toxic levels and unlikely to cause any issues. There should be no issues using all 3 of these supplements together.

I have just bought some Aktivait for my 13 year old yorkie.
What is the best time of day to give it to her.

  • VioVet Staff

There is no time of day that is better than any other when giving these capsules, you should administer them when it is most convenient for you and your yorkie.

Aktivait for Dogs Large Breed - Side Effects

Angela Pasol

Can diarrhea or vomiting be side effects of this supplement? My Labrador Retriever (40 kg) is taking this pill for 14 days now and a few days ago started having diarrhea and once vomited.

  • VioVet Staff

There are no listed side effects to this product as it is a supplement and not a medication as such. However like any food, your dog can have an intolerance/allergy to the ingredients within the supplement. If the signs persist then trial stopping the supplement. If this helps then start it up again (if safe) to confirm whether the diarrhoea/vomiting was unrelated or related to the Aktivait.

Gabapentin

Paul B

Hi can you us aktivait with Gabapentin and metacam

Many thanks

Paul

  • VioVet Staff

Yes you can use Aktivait alongside Gabapentin and Metacam. If your pet is being treated by your vet for a condition then it is worth running any new supplements, like Aktivait, past your vet just to make sure they are appropriate.

Side effect

Denise Hunter

My 12year old cavalier has been on Aktivait for quite a while ,just recently she has started to drink a lot more water ,she is also on Pro Flora pro biotic ,can these make her thirsty .

  • VioVet Staff

This supplement should not cause increased thirst. Any adverse reactions would be similar to that of a food intolerance, diarrhoea/vomiting or allergic signs. I recommend discussing the increased thirst with your vet as there is likely an underlying cause.

Side effects

Glenda Bott

Are there any reported side effect to taking this supplement. My miniature schnauzer suffers from colitis (wheat and gluten intolerance). Also he has injections monthly for allergies.
Not sure if this is going to start a flair up.
Please advise.
Thank you.

  • VioVet Staff

This product is a supplement and so is classed similarly to food. There are no listed side effects but there is a rare chance of an allergy or intolerance to one of the ingredients occuring. The ingredient list is as follows:

Each capsule contains DHA/EPA
35mg, L-carnitine 13.5mg,Vitamin C 20mg, N-acetyl cysteine 20mg, Alpha
lipoic acid 10mg, Vitamin E 10mg, Acetyl l-carnitine 5mg, Co Enzyme Q10
1mg, Phosphotidylserine 1mg.

The above ingredient list does not include wheat or gluten so it is likely safe your dog. There is always the rare chance of an unidentified intolerance/allergy though unfortunately but this is very unlikely.

Pancreatis

VioVet Visitor

My dog has pancreatis and has to have a low fat diet, would Actvait impact this at all

  • VioVet Staff

Aktivait should have very little impact in your dog's pancreatitis, it is not fat based and will be given in very small quantities compared to the majority of your dog's normal diet. However any change in diet can set off pancreatitis in some severely affected dogs. I recommend running any dietary changes, including adding in a supplement, past your vet to be safe.
