Cat Wormers

Independent Reviews on Trustpilot

There are eight types of intestinal worms that commonly infect cats in the UK today. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to recognise the symptoms of these worms. It is recommended that you should de-worm your cat on a regular basis using a good medication. Regular cat worming reduces the risk of harmful consequences with your pet’s general health. It also potentially reduces the chances of accidental transmission of the Toxocara worm to children.

If in doubt, we recommend using Drontal. It is by far the top selling non-prescription wormer and is incredibly effective.

Worming cats regularly promotes better health of your cats as well as contributing to better public health too. It is part of responsible pet ownership and is to be encouraged. Modern wormers are safe and effective. A single dose is fully adequate in most circumstances.

Some wormers such as Panacur wormer come in granulated form. They can be added to food and are effective in both both cats and dogs. They act against intestinal roundworms as well as lungworms found in the respiratory tract. Panacur wormer granules can be used on pregnant cats and dogs and helps to reduce the number of prenatal infections caused by roundworms. (For fussy individuals, it is best to wait until you pet is hungry, then offer the Panacur granules in a small amount of food which is different from the usual diet. For cats, a mashed up prawn can work very well. For dogs, a tiny amount of liver pate usually does the trick. It is important to use a different food for this, otherwise your discriminating pet can be suspicious of the change in the regular food, and be suspicious of what you have done. The wormer granules do not taste bad in themselves, but they will alter the texture of the food a little. Feeding a novel treat will get round this, and most pets accept the medication happily.
